About the course

The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and is recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. This three-year (six-semester) full-time program equips students with the essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes required to efficiently perform supervisory roles in the hospitality sector.

The curriculum includes extensive laboratory training to help students achieve operational proficiency in Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operations, and Housekeeping. In addition, the program provides managerial inputs in areas such as Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing, and Tourism Management.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the program offers an optional fourth year, enabling students to earn an Honours Degree upon successful completion of the extended curriculum.

Graduates of this program are awarded a JNU Degree. Jawaharlal Nehru University is ranked #1088 in the Best Global Universities and #2 in India in the University category as per the NIRF rankings.

NCHMCT, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, centrally regulates the academics for the B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration program as well as eleven other structured courses delivered through a wide network of affiliated institutes across India—including Central Institutes of Hotel Management, State Government Institutes, PSU-run institutes, and private sector institutes.

Eligibility of Admission

Program: B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration

Age Limit: No age bar

Minimum Eligibility: Pass in 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination or equivalent from a recognized Board/Institution, with English as one of the subjects. Students appearing for the qualifying examination may apply provisionally. However, provisional admission will be cancelled if proof of passing the qualifying examination is not submitted at the time of admission or latest by 30th September of the admission year.

Tuition Fee: Varies across institutes depending on their discretion. The fee typically ranges from ₹3.00 lakh to ₹5.00 lakh for the entire 6-semester program.

Selection Criteria

The NCHM Joint Entrance Examination (NCHM JEE) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The exam is held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

Admissions are granted based on All India Rank (AIR) in NCHM JEE. Following the exam, a centralized online counseling process is conducted at the national level, where seats and institutes are allotted based on merit-cum-choice.
